For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)
The Principle
In the Old Testament, the Israelite giving was channelled by God to those who needed it - to the priests and Levites who had no other source of income because of their duties, and to the poor of the land. We see a similar pattern in the New Testament, where Christian giving is directed to meeting the needs of those who labour amongst us in the Lord, as well as towards the poor.
As Paul writes in Galatians 6: Let him who is taught the word share all good things with him who teaches
;
and then a few verses later: So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith
.
In practical terms, this means directing our money not only towards Naremburn Cammeray, but to the work of the gospel further afield, and to those who struggle.
Giving to Naremburn Cammeray Anglican...
The ministry of NCACHURCH receives over 90% of its support from the giving of our members. As such, we need all members of our church family to contribute financially, as they are able, toward funding the ongoing ministry.
... And Beyond
NCACHURCH also financially supports various ministries outside of the Naremburn Cammeray area. We give 10% of the money we receive from members to support people and organisations that are primarily involved in the proclamation of God's word locally, nationally and internationally. We also support Anglicare and their work among those who struggle. See our Missions page for more information about people and organisations that we currently support.
Over To You
There are many different ways that members of NCACHURCH can give to the work of the Gospel here and beyond. These include setting up a regular, automatic EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) via Internet Banking and giving through the collection at some Sunday services.
Our preference is for members to give via EFT as this has the advantages of reducing the physical handling of cash, encouraging regular giving and helping NCACHURCH in planning and budgeting for future ministries.
